DBS offshore wind farms launch consultation to help shape potential community fund of up to £1million

• Community fund consultation is open between 30 January and 27 March
• Local people to help shape the fund
• Views sought via online questionnaires and through drop-in events

RWE and Masdar, developers of the proposed DBS (Dogger Bank South) offshore wind farms, are inviting residents and stakeholders to help shape a potential community fund of up to £1 million linked to the projects. The fund is dependent on project approval and construction and aims to deliver lasting benefits to communities in the vicinity of the projects’ proposed onshore converter stations. These would be located to the southwest of Beverley, near the village of Bentley.

Vicky Law, RWE stakeholder manager for the DBS projects explained: “We are developing the fund in collaboration with local communities to ensure it is structured in a way that would best support local plans and aspirations. We are inviting residents to complete a survey, so we can understand their priorities and ideas for how the fund could be managed and used, and which areas should be prioritised.”

The survey is open until 27 March 2026. It can be accessed via the website (doggerbanksouth.co.uk) and paper copies are available on request via email (dbs@rwe.com), FREEPOST DBSOWF, or by calling 0800 254 5459. There are also opportunities to talk through your ideas in person at two drop-in events where you can discuss the proposed fund with members of the DBS team.

The DBS offshore wind farms, currently under review by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, could generate enough renewable electricity to meet the average annual needs of approximately 3 million homes. In January 2026, the projects secured a government contract to supply electricity through the Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 7 (AR7) auction.
